Conversely, reviews that tell me that I'm an idiot because I bought a dud are clearly from a questionable source and not to be relied upon.

Of course, the all-important image quality is exceptional - sharp with well balanced colour tones and exposures.


This is the only bit of the review that mentions picture quality.

It seems to me that the reviewer is more interested in the aesthetic and ergonomical aspects of the camera that the actual purpose of the camera, to take excellent photos.

Yes, but any camera at that level would take excellent pictures. The ergonomics and handling aspect is what Nikon excells at doing IMHO, and something they've done for a long time.

That is very true.

I find that it's very easy for me to pick up any Nikon and I immediately feel at home with the controls.

And the fact that brand new G series lenses work on bodies that are 17 or more years old tells me much about the good design that's inherent in Nikon's cameras.
