wacom graphire or intuos tablet?

Hi All,

I want to do pp'ing to photo's in a more natural way than using a mouse and I believe a graphics tablet is the way to go. I've heard the wacom brand is the best.

Is the graphire model any good, or should I ensure I go with the intuos model? The graphire model seems more readily available eg. I can walk into a store today and buy one, but the Intuos model I have to either order in, or go to a shop on my day off (which I believe *may* have it in stock.

Any suggestions.

Thanks
Geoff

Hi Geoff

There are advocates for both models. I have a Graphire Bluetooth but not for PP’ing. I have found that after years of using a mouse I actually find it more natural than a pen - go figure

Hi Geoff,

For PhotoShop work I have been using the Graphire III. It is a reasonable price (about $129) and the 4 x 5 model is good enough for 99% of the tasks. Remember, if you are having problem getting about a tight detail the simple answer is to increase the size of the detail on the screen.

hope this is a help... Ants

Hmmm.. thanks guys.. I'm starting to lean towards the 6x8 graphire then. I figure I can always buy a intuos down the track.

Decisions decisions :)

Ok, I just bought the Graphire 4 6x8 tablet and I have a minor issue. it's recognising my two monitors as the active area on the tablet? Is there any way of configuring it to only use one monitor for the active area. I can't see anywhere obvious in the control panel applet.

Edit: Never mind.. figured it out..
