Here's the thread related to the Epson P-2000

http://forum.d70users.com/viewtopic.php?t=1379

and apart from the above thread we have so many thread related to the PSD and Epson P-2000 with opinion from few members who gathered at the meets in the past one month since I got it before Xmas.

Stock is still shortage in the US, I knew couple of my friends in the US still waiting for their back-orders.

Cool Birddog.. I'm definately going to order one from BH when they get them in stock. Not sure why Epson won't sell to the Asia Pacific region.. I doubt it's going to stop BH selling me one and delivering to Australia.

What did you do with regards to the AC Adaptor? Did you just get a travel thingamabob for the different prongs, or did you need to buy a whole new adaptor?

Yeah! I know, but still quicker than stay on hold over the phone with some companies or Govt. Dept just for an inquiry

Just get a suitable power cable for the charger, the charger is 100v-240v.
Or get a plier and bent the plug to our Aussie style.

B& H might not have them in stock for few months, same as previously model Epson P-1000, B&H never had them is stock, once the stocks arrived, did not fulfill the back-order.

Dang... I'll try and find another retailer then.. Someone hopefully will have it in stock soon and can send to Australia.

Thanks
Geoff

Try someone in the US, who takes the back-order.

Geoff, you probably have one by now, but it was in last weeks Herald and is now listed on Epson's aus website.

Hi,
Epson Australia won't have stock until June 05 and limited.
I can confirm this on behalf of Epson.
I have a Pre/back-ordered of 10 x Epson P-2000.
Prices will be confirmed in a later date.

Nah.. actually, I took birddogs advice and didn't buy it. Maybe when it's a lot cheaper and readily available, but probably not worth it at the moment.

I'd say that time is about June 05 when Birddy gets stock  SMH had the retail listed as $899. Am keeping an eye on this myself, my belief is for important images you really should have two PSD's, preferably different.

Wow it's so short stocked, that it's even selling above retail price on eBay.

Question: Why not the Nikon Coolwalker? Is this unit much better?

Maybe it's just me having a "Kernal Panic", but is there a chance of these Epson readers having problems reading the White Balance encryption of the NEF files in newer cameras?

They have these in stock at Lens and Shutter in Canada BTW and they sell for a little under $600 if memory serves me right. They are selling fast, but they seem to get them restocked fairly quickly as well.

MHD - I just finished installing OS X Tiger on my Mac and got a quick refresher course in Kernal Panic 101. (Unix Core, you know.) Advice to others - Make sure that you have sufficient hard drive space on your install drive for additional file indexing after installation or mayhem may ensue!!

Steve, thought about the same thing but these are viewers of a nef, not modifiers like PSCS, so no problem with encryption. Still anti encrption though myself.

Still wondered about gauging color balance quality on the screen and if it would be properly interpreted by the viewer if encrypted.

Good point, though I think these screens are more an indication than anything usable. It is still a modest screen.

Not so sure. To display the NEF it has to be interpreted. To interpret it you need to interpret the WB. If it's encrypted and Nikon insist reverse engineering it is covered by DMCA then the only way to interpret the WB and so display the image is to licence the process from Nikon. While PSCS is an image modifier it only READS the WB info. Adobe are saying it can't READ encrypted WB because of DMCA

Stubbsy, I hear what you are saying and think you are right but there must be a default white balance to display any NEF? Not what you want in CS but would do for a PSD. They must display because Birddy has a D2X and a P2000 and his NEF's display.

very interesting. You must be correct.
