D1 - not only a dyslexic rewrite of Canon's original 1D, but mimicking Nikon's DSLR nomenclature, with D letter first. When all previous Canons have had the D as a suffix to their model names. No, no confusion whatsoever...

D60 & D30, what were they then?

That article made no sense at all, interchanging D1 and 1D at will.

Agreed. It rambled on, re-spouting a few bits of material that have been around the net for aeons. Somehow I suspect the author's not a native English-speaker.

But I won't be suprised to see a 1D/s replacement use a smaller body (ala 1v as mentioned in that article). Thus heavier and more robust than a 5D, with an optional battery pack/grip. We'll just have to wait and see.
