any nikon users with a sigma 30mm f1.4 ?

anyone know if nikon have, or are making, a similar, fast (1.8min) standard lens (less than 50mm), which is DX and film compatible. AF. I see older lenses, but anything more recent (post circa 1950)?

I have it too, and echo Vince's comments, great lens.

Oz: AF 28 mm f/1.4 (but not cheap), also AF 35mm f/2 (not faster than f/1.8, but lots more affordable than the 28/1.4).

I got the 35mm f/2, I like it so far, great lens for going everywhere. Practically being replacing my 50mm f1.8. Just 1/3 stop slower than 1.8 but colours are really good, sharpness is great after f2.8 and amazing after f4 all way up to f16 and back down again.

Its the lens I use most indoors where I have room to walk around or just out and about on a light kit.

hmmm, so... 35mm f2 cheaper n trustworthy nikon or 30mm f1.4 wider bigger aperture sigma... i think in this case i would go for sigma...

i have a d40 with sigma 30mm f.14 !
let me tell u i thought it wasnt quite sharp (after taking lots of pics in my room) but when i took daylight pics, its so sharp i can see my mates nosehair hehe

I have it and it is my most used lens for indoor portaits. I have to 50mm 1.4 as well but indoors with friends and family the 50mm is too long, and 30mm is about right.
It is a great purchase for its price. I got mine from Vanbar in Melbourne as i wanted to make sure that it focussed ok, as there apparently issues with early ones. Make sure you can return it if you have focus issues.

yea, buy it I love mine which gives nice sharp images on my D200, and I would say its a lot sharper than the Nikon 50mm f/1.4 when used wide open, the aspheric element really does help.

Thanx Nnnnsic for letting me play, and Daniel_r for posing. Great lens this one. Short depth of field is fun to play with. Min focus distance a little less than anticipated (IIRC 0.40m), but that's with me being used to the 17-35 (0.28m or thereabouts). Normal people who don't attempt macro/close-ups with a wideangle lens will find it's mostly a non-issue.

Field of view is ideal as 'normal' lens on DSLR. More useful than a 50mm IMHO. HSM makes AF fast and silent. Only negative point I find it tends to overexpose slightly under D200's matrix meter. -2/3EV and it'll be what I consider 'ideal' exposure.

I have the 50mm 1.4 and 30mm sigma. I use the sigma much more and are very happy with the results.
