stubbsy wrote:Interesting thought. I see the biggest plus of VR is it gives me more stops hand held. I have no problem hand holding with either the 80-400 or 70-200, but the 200-400 - fugeddit
So...
Why would VR be advantageous when tripod mounted vs a non VR lens which would, presumably, cost less?

Whats the point of having a VR lens,if you are
going to mount it on a tripod. Waste of money I think!!!!

Birdy, you may have done this just to see if it was possible, but you wouldn't really consider it for any event would you? Your arm would drop off before your 10th shot.
I could see a use for the VR though if you had it mounted on a helicopter chasing wildlife in Africa.

What about the gain in quality - let’s face it Sigma is Coke Glass, Nikon is Pepsi Glass and the Russian is rats glarse

Glen - you know you want to.... it's only a matter of time. Heck, Birddog might wanna sell his to finance the 300/2.8VR.

I would have to win a 'Lottery' to afford the 200-400VR. As I do not gamble, no chance. I will just have to be happy to see Rob's next month.

Do you know that, Rob will ask for a small premium of $20.00 everytime you want to touch it?
Pretty nice looking toy!
