I have the Tokina 12-24mm lens and I like it. I haven't used it enough to be able to say I love it but it has been good so far.

I bought it mainly for shark and whale photos (underwater) but have not be able to get close enough to either for great shots - although I did manage to get a few decent shots at 24mm last week.

All the reports I have read put it as almost the same quality as the Nikon for half the price.

I brought mine last year and it is a great lens.

This is my favourite pic I took with it last year.

I got mine from Photobuff (Excellent to deal with) http://www.photobuff.com.au

I tested everything I could get my hands on a while ago and the Tokina was better than the Nikon by a long shot. Well worth the money.

I've used one on my D300 on a D80 and on a F80. It is definately a good lens, love the build quality and the sharpness. Also seems to work quite well on the F80 (film) from about 18mm with the hood removed.

Thanks everyone for your opinions, I have a 12-24 Tokina on order from HKSupplies in HK . I researched them a lot first. Sent a few emails and got quick replies. Got it cheaper by buying direct from them .I asked them to try it on a body b4 it left to lessen the hassle later .They told me they tested it . Very good response time . I ordered it on Monday 25th and as of Thurs 28th it is clearing customs in Quebec . I am in North Sydney NS. Canada . I got a 5 in 1 reflector from HK before with no tax or tariffs .I will let you all know how the transaction went .
