Not exactly equipment but I saw this title mentioned in a post by Birddog and having been daunted by the other Photoshop books I`d leafed through I thought I`d give it a go. Its really improved my PS skills which were pretty poor to start with. I have a lot of old photos which need scanning and fixing as well as the old `between the wars` photos of family that are creased and dog eared so that was my main interest in PS but I`ve learned a lot from this book to improve my digital pics that I thought were Ok. I find a lot of these books are padded out with attempts by the author to introduce subjects using humour (I use the word in its loosest sense here) and its annoying to me but is kept to the minimum in this book.

The website http://www.digitalretouch.org/ has some sample chapters and I found them easy to follow so bought the book.

Thank you for allowing me to share.

The beauty of retouching in PS is that you have a history plus snapshots that can be used to look at different aspects of your work as you proceed. Plus if you work on a copy of the scanned photo you can have them side by side on the monitor so that your progress can be compared back to the original at all times.
