A friend of mine has the 200-500 F5-6.3 for her Canon, and thats a nice lens.

I had an inkling about that as well, but was too tired to check last night,. I cant find this lens after a quick google, but I do know the 200-500 which is a pretty good lens, a hell of a lot lighter than the Bigma. I have not had much first hand exp wiht it, but having seen some shots done useing this lens I can say that it would not be a bad choice over the bigma, esp if you already have the 50-200mm range covered (ie with an 18-200) and weight is an issue.
Even while covering up to a 500mm that enables you to take ultra telephoto shots of subjects further than the eye can see, its design is extremely lightweight and compact. When mounted on an APS-C size digital SLR camera, it provides a focal length equivalent to a 760mm for super ultra telephoto imaging.
