Getting acquanted with my new beast.... the 500VRTook delivery of my new 500VR this morning, what a beauty she is and can't believe how sharp it is even with the 1.7 TC, with very little loss in image quality.
I'm looking forward to using it in combo with the D3 when my wife and I are off to Botswana in 6 weeks staying 24 nights. I've had to let go of my 200-400VR to fund this expensive exotic glass and will really miss it. Just can't justify 2 exotics. If anyone is interested, I have it listed here: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 0451903326 Cheers Marc D4|D3S|D700+MB-D10| 14-24 |24-70|70-200 f/2.8 VRII|70-200 f/4 VR|80-400 AF-S|500VR|Sigma 150 f/2.8 macro|TC's 1.4,1.7E & 2.0III|SB 900

Re: Getting acquanted with my new beast.... the 500VRThat incident if I recall, occurred in Namibia.
Have been to Botswana quite a few times now, it's a relatively safe country, in fact it's the most stable in all of Africa. Cheers Marc D4|D3S|D700+MB-D10| 14-24 |24-70|70-200 f/2.8 VRII|70-200 f/4 VR|80-400 AF-S|500VR|Sigma 150 f/2.8 macro|TC's 1.4,1.7E & 2.0III|SB 900

When people ask what equipment I use - I tell them my eyes.
Re: Getting acquanted with my new beast.... the 500VRI don't understand. With a lens like that, can't you take the shots of the animals in Botswana from your place in Sydney?

Two or three lights, any lens on a light-tight box are sufficient for the realisation of the most convincing image. Man Ray 1935. Our mug is smug
Re: Getting acquanted with my new beast.... the 500VRHave a look here:
