Orbis Ring Light

So... anyone have one? Anyone have an opinion?

As we are getting into the silly season I thought a small investment in some better portable lighting for gatherings and events might be worthwhile but not sure whether something like the Orbis would do the trick.

I'm certainly not interested in lumping around a full ring light with a brick'o'battery... I have enoung nonportable lighting gear... this is for the odd out-in-the-field portrait and indoors function type work.

experiences... thoughts?

Have you checked the strobist blog for this. I think David Hobby did a great review on these and other options. Orbis came out well on top for light conservation. The O flash I think ate up 6 stops of light.... (According to my faint memory)
