And only $7500 or thereabouts for this little gem. Perhaps aimed at the colour blind? :D

That would be a US price, before texas. :)

Local price is expected to be around PP11K, including Glorious Southern residency Texas.

I Like’a lot.

I see nothing wrong in a B&W high priced camera and one must not forget that this forum was touting a B&W CF card just a few years ago

Oddly, just the other day I was talking to a friend who was bemoaning the modern Swiss Army Knife approach to cameras these days. He was saying that he would like a camera that was digital but otherwise forced him to think old-school film.
And didn't have all the "features" that add weight and bulk. I think this camera could have been made to his specifications.

Higher resolution
Lower noise
See above.

I do wonder at the "Colour LCD" on the rear though.
And the price.

Leica has always been at the forefront of pioneering innovative ways of separating rich fools from their money ;)

That said, the huge technological advantage they have with this is that every pixel is one big photosite, not an array of smaller pixels. They also don't need the light consuming colour filters in front of the pixels. Due to this alone the camera should be a low-light monster, though I notice the highest available ISO is 10,000. Maybe it will be noise-free across the ISO range? Also, the dynamic range is conventional 14 bits. Lastly, the 200,000 pixel LCD will look out of place on an expensive camera like this.

Cheers
Steffen.

Pre Order pricing locally is currently sitting at $9999. Not sure how many they expect to sell but it seems like they dont expect to sell many, hence the pricing, but also the pricing means that they wont sell many at the same time.

I think they'll sell plenty (for a Leica)

Largely, because of this

But also because it is a unique camera.

No, not for me though.

NO

Lens probably costs as much again for a nice 50mm Summicron.

Unfortunately that is true...with the new APO Summicron 50mm at that price I think the Summilux is going to be even harder to get.
