Hi
After got this lense from Huynhie @ minimeet 2nd April, Last Sunday I put it in to work( go out shooting ), not a bad lense for the price paid.
It does not make sharp picture like 70-200VR, or 20-200 af 2.8 D( I will get 70-200VR when finance allow), but it does make aceptable picture for backpacker traveling ( ie Do not have room or time to change lense in a dusty environment), It AF is slower than my kit lense (AF-S 24-85), but it has the zoom upto 200mm, and I use it mainly for landscape, view so it is OK. Here are some Pics I've taken with it

Tamron @28mm, P mode Thai temple at Cambelltown

Tamron@200mm, pic taken at noon, where the sun is very strong and under the umbrella is dark.@ 200mm I can't use flash.

The cat live under my house.

Tamron@ about 70mm indoor no flash Auto

Again this is at 3 PM sun was very strong

All above was shot raw ( RAF file ), and convert to Jpeg to post, althouh I found that the S2 is very well in shooting JPEG.Even with cheap lense like this pics still much better than my old PS pentax Optio 30.

Edit: the last pic might not be taken with the tamron, maybe with the kit lense

Hien - overall these pics are not too bad - some USM might perk them up a bit but you should be happy with your purchase. :D

Keep on posting

Nice photos, Hien. Was it the Songkran festival?

Thanks

Alex

P.s. USM = unsharp mask - a way of sharpening your photos, e.g. in photoshop or Nikon Capture.

USM - stands for Unsharp Mask - if you are using PS (Photoshop) it will be found under filters - sharpening. Due to the softness of sensor arrays it can be helpful to add approx 180-0.6-0 - hope that helps

I was wondering what version of the lens you are using. I too have the lens from an old F50 I bought in 1997 and have not used it yet - was a great lens for travelling around europe with. I think mine was the first or second version that came out. Will have to have a go and post some photos.
