Here's the real deal. I think I should order a D50 with the kit lens right now.

I agree.

And yet I'm suddenly confused by their pricing system.

Maybe they are too...

When we are in the same house, occasionally.

But this afternoon I was at Flemington, and Leigh was in Edgecliff. Right now I'm back @ home, but he's not

I figured it was something like that, but I couldn't help thinking there was something Pythonesque about the only 2 participants in an online discussion living at the same digs...

Reading the blurb at DCW and pretending I don't know what I do  it reads like the D50 is better than the D70.

It's "smaller" and "lighter" and uses those new fangled SD cards that "are replacing many pervious memory formats in the new generation cameras" , "has a better viewfinder eyecup", "a new auto AF mode (which automatically switches between single and continuous AF depending on the subject)", "improved auto focus especially in the area of motion tracking", "spot metering circle is also larger" and although it "has a lower resolution metering sensor (the) sensor is a newer generation than the one used in the D70 (and D70s)"

AND it costs less. You've really gotta love advertising (and this probably came from Nikon)
