1150mm f11 lens astrophotography
Posted: Tue Aug 30, 2005 8:24 pmAKA my telescope, is about to be dusted off and dragged to Mt Coot-Tha for some serious telephoto fun. Have a 2X teleconverter for it so it becomes a 2100mm focal length.
It was originally built by my uncle back in the '70's and passed to me in a horrid state. Not having any idea how to fix it I gave it to my old housemate who last year rebuilt it from throwout spare parts at his work (York Optical in Brisbane). When he moved out he sold it back to me for $400 with an new mirror, a lot of new lenses and tomorrow I get the T-Ring to fit the D70 to it.
I cant wait to test it out. We're going to drag his scope out too soon. It's far newer and well, kinda takes all the guesswork out of astrophotography. calibrate it for 20minutes then hook up the laptop, pick a point in space and hit enter. it goes there and then tracks it accurately for as long as you want. (or if you tangle with the horizon)
