Sigma EX 10-20 vs EX 12-24I took a few test images today with the Sigma EX 10-20 and then took the same shots with my EX 12-24. Samples were taken at 10mm f4, f8, f16 and the same at 20 mm. Then I repeated the same shot with the 12-24 at 12mm and 20mm. I will process the raw files carefully and post some results later but my initial impressions are that the 10-20 is not better than the 12-24 but it is an outstanding lens well worth the $449-500 it will cost most places. The rectilinearity is quite good, (like the 12-24) an important feature to me. It is smaller and lighter (not too important to me) and has good ergonomics. I'd rate it highly on first impression.
More to follow. regards

Mike,
You're lucky to get it with Nikon mount overthere, my suppliers do not have with Nikon mount yet, its price is very tempting, I heard few complains about distortion and quality from Canon guys on other sides. It's around AU$700.00 in Australia (Imported stock) Birddog114

I saw it advertised in a Camerahouse catalog yesterday.
Saw it on Ebay for $678. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Sigma-AF-10-22-4 ... dZViewItem[url] Would love to see some of those comparison shots Mike! Sonny
My supplier still not have the one with Nikon mount yet! Only Canon atm.
Just about the right price + shipping to Australia. I would like to see how does it vs Nikon and Sigma 12-24. Birddog114

The Sigma 12-24mm is an average lens IMHO, I had it to play with for a couple of weeks and perhaps the best selling point for it is that it works with 35mm fullframe. It is a monster lens and as has already been mentioned you cannot fit polarisers to the front.
I had a play with the 10-20 too and I have to say I prefer it more, particularly if you are only going to use it with a D-SLR. You get 15-30mm equivalent as opposed to 18-36 on a Nikon and you also have the advantage of the HSM motor (very quick and snappy). It takes 77mm filters too so it is more compatible with filters you will have for you 70-200 f2.8 The results out of the 10-20 impressed me more than the 12-24 although those who have been following my posts will know that it was the Tokina 12-24mm that I bought. Sadly I did not get to do a direct comparison with this two lenses and I would not speculate which is better with out such a treatment. Sigma EX 10-20 vs Sigma EX 12-24 vs Tamron 11-18I have posted some additions to the posted images taken with the new Sigma EX 10-20 f4-5.6 zoom now on PBase.com. There are now some comparison images from the new Tamron 11-18 f4-5.6 zoom, and the established Sigma EX 12-24 f4.5-5.6 zoom. These are the companion jpg files that are saved with the NEF files. They have not been processed, color corrected, sharpened or, in any other way, modified. Keep checking here for selected processed raw files and comparison images from these three lenses.

hi,
I actually got a 10-20mm Sigma yesterday. First impressions, nice build, comes with a carying case and a lens hood. Internal focus isnt bad, quiet and reasonably fast. Distortion is noticble at 10mm but i guess that is correctable these days. Will post some sample pics if people are keen and i will get along to a meet soon so if people want to have a look they can. Cheers PS. i picked this one up at paxtons in the city for $649, they seem to more in stock too.
Thanx,
I don't know if itis good enough for my use. For little bit more, from mine/ours privite source, I can have the 10.5mm For what I know the Sigma is very good at 10 but "terrible" at 20.... compared with other lenses of that range. uhmmmmm, but I'd like to try it. See you at mini meet... "source"!
