Religious procession (Italian) 6 picsSo I came home the other day to find my street blocked for this local event. Luckily I had my camera in my car and thought I would give some photojournalism a go. Well I don’t know if you could call it photojournalism as such. Hopefully these photos tell the story of the religious procession from the Italian club to the catholic cathedral.
The effigy they were carrying looked quite striking against the tree-lined background. I don’t know what the symbolism of all that money is – perhaps it was a donation they were about to give to the church? Apparently this group has been doing this for at least the last 40 years. Anyway - Please let me know what you think of my conversions and my styalistic efforts (I dont do this style of shoot a lot). 1 2 3 4 5 6 WW Steve (Nikon D200/D700)

Excellent treatment of a fabulous subject! I like the heavy conversion...how did you do that? Also, it really pays off to keep your camera handy...a lesson for all.

What a great opportunity, and you did a fantastic job to capture it. The treatment works very nicely in my opinion, just beautiful stuff... thanks for sharing.
Thanks for your positive comments MK. I used the virtual photographer suite to convert to B+W and then used the sliders to make it heavier. On some of the images i then used colour chanels to add a little bit of a tint. So many times i have seen something awesome and gone without due to no cam, but i was lucky this time. My all time un-favorite missed moment was i was driving to a friends house just before a big storm was about to hit Canberra, and went past a field with three beautiful golden palimino horses, that were being illuminated by bright sun (through a small break in the coloud). The background was very dark with the storm clouds and the contrast between the golden horses and the background was breath taking. Sadly - it is an image that will only live on in my mind. Must be an Italian thing mate? There was a fair bit of moolah there. Im unsure why they display it like that. Wow factor perhaps ? Steve (Nikon D200/D700)
