Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Hi all.

Appreciate any comments you may have on these shots. I'm in the process of getting my space on Kristine's site but I believe she is out of action at the moment so I'm posting here

http://gallery123691.fotopic.net/

in the interim.

Though I've shot a couple of hundred photos, these are the first I've managed to post online for your perusal, enjoyment and/or amusement.

Thanks,

Simon

Hi Manta
Like the composition of the photos. The sea shot is nice with the sunray coming out of cloud - well done. Regarding noise - is it a high ISO, or maybe oversharpening in pp?

Thanks for the comments.

ISO 200 but I may have oversharpened a bit. I also adjusted the levels and upped the saturation slightly. With the sunrise shot, I was trying to acheive the lowest possible shutter speed hoping to get a blurred effect with the surf. I didn't have a tripod with me so there was a bit of camera shake which resulted in a slight blur overall.

Lesson learned: get the focus right to start with and you don't have to fix it in Photoshop later.

Simon,

As Matt would say, neat and in the middle. :)

Do you have a CPL yet? I'm thinking that the second shot might have benefited from the extra contrast and colour depth that a CPL might have brought out.
