Killakoala's Sydney NYE 2005All pics taken from Garden Island Dockyard (while i was at work)
Two things i would have liked to have done better. 1. Another D70 with 18mm mounted in portrait mode. 2. D70 with 12mm mounted in landscape mode. I could really have done with a 12-24mm lens as i was too close for the 18-70 to get a good view of the high exploding fireworks. Still i think i did ok with most of the shots, bit i did miss the 'big' bangs that exploded just out of shot. I do like the way the D70 produces/enhances colours. I set the camera with the Digital_Agfa curve with enhanced colour. Images were shot between 2-10 seconds and f8-f16. EDIT: forgot to add that i shot all in JPEG. A first for me Here's the link http://killakoala.smugmug.com/gallery/339470 Steve.

Steve,
Excellent stuff. And yes, I saee why you feel a second body and wider glass would be good. Interestingly, last Sunday, on the harbour for the start of the race, I made a comment to Lindy that for the first time in ages I felt I needed to have two bodies (different glass on each) in order to be properly able to capture everything. g.

I am confused so fear not. The pics were taken on 1 Jan 2005, the fireworks don't start until after midnight so are therefore taken on 2005, not 2004. That's how i see it anyway I had a similar discussion on 31 Dec 1999 about when the third millenium started (1 Jan 2001) and that the 2000 celebrations were one year too soon. Gary, i think that we would have to go 'pro' to justify purchasing more than one camera Glen, yes the Navy pays me heaps to allow me to take photos, but i do work for my money Thanks all for the comments, i enjoyed the challenge of taking the shots. Steve.
