Archerfield Drift shotsJust thought i'd post up some shots from a local drift comp i go too these are from the 26th of last month. All shot with my newly acquired 1.8 50mm the lighting is very hard being night time comps but it's fun.
Yeah for once i am actually happy with these it was my first time using the 50mm and i'm very happy with it and zaf i'm only a couple of metres away from the action.
Really like #3, great action shot. The white pops out nicely, good panning, perfect shutter..

evening drifting is a pain in the butt, but of course the 50mm wins everytime
but seriously close u would have been, ur mad lol! Canon EOS 40D
Canon EOS 400D 50mm 1.8 EF
Nice mate, the 50mm wouldn't be used much for motorsports, but you've used it to perfection here. Uber sharp images, perfect shutter speed and great panning.
I think you need to play about a bit in PS though. The colours in 1 are just crying out to be pumped up. I've had a play (hope you don't mind) and by reducing the brightness a fair bit, pumping the contrast and saturation levels, you really get the golds/bronzes coming out. The blacks become better also, making the image pop. I can post it if you want. My laptop is calibrated, so the colours are pretty accurate. Great shots though mate. Your images are coming along in leaps and bounds. 2x D700, 2x D2h, lenses, speedlights, studio, pelican cases, tripods, monopods, patridges, pear trees etc etc

Post it up Raskill would love to see it, i must admit i don't spend alot of time in pp with my shots not really that great with ps to be honest.
yes they are dope dope dope shots, but could do with some contrast and saturation pumping...
i love the first 86 shot (the gold and black look awesome, and that blown light in the background gives the car a kind of halo) and the white silvia, body: nikon d200, d70s, f4s, f601.

Panda, heres what I've done to your images.
Just a reduction in brightness, and an increase in contrast (to get your whites whiters and blacks blacker) Then pumped up saturation. I was trying to get the gold light in the background and bronze on the car more saturated. You lose a bit of detail across the front of the vehicle, but nothing that really added to the picture. (IMHO). I was hoping to get the background darker in this, and the car whiter. I pumped the saturation to get the bright blue in the headlights to come out more. If you don't like what I've done, let me know and I'll remove the links. Cheers. 2x D700, 2x D2h, lenses, speedlights, studio, pelican cases, tripods, monopods, patridges, pear trees etc etc

Thanks Raskill for posting up your edited versions i'm very much liking the second edit really makes the white pop from the background. The second is a little dark but i do see where you are coming from it has definately gives the picture more depth and the colours do look alot better i might have a play around with the first one and see what i can come up with.
