These are Brahman which are a common beef breed. The bulls get up to 1200kg but these would be 900-1000kg - just youngsters. The incredible power of these animals is hard to capture. The Brahman breed is a common type seen from about Grafton and northwards due to their suitability to the hotter climates and more importantly their resistance to tick infestations. The southern states tend to breed more Hereford, Devon, Santa Gertudis etc for beef production. In any case, they are fearsome creatures, and this pair has been spectacularly photographed. Ozi.
