Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

34 image stitch with Nikon 50mm AFS

Postby Richard Peters on Sat Jan 10, 2009 5:51 am

I just finished processing a shot I took in Bath in the UK. I've been field testing my 50mm AFS before I put the finishing touches to my review of it on my blog. This shot covers a pretty large scene, the buildings at the far left and right of frame actually ran straight behind me and joined up so you can see how far round the field of view goes!

It was done handhled as well, as I was without tripod and I thought it would be fun to see how the shot would come out. There is naturally distortion and a couple of small places where the shots wouldn't line up %100 but overall I was quite pleased (and surprised) with how well it came out!

The door directly in front leads to the Roman Baths, the Cathedral is to the left of frame and the high street is through the walkway that leads off to the right.

Sorry for not having the image displayed in the post but its 1200 pixels wide to show it off a little better. The link will show you the image on a blank page though, so hopefully it won't ruin the viewing experience too much for you.

Thank-you Richard,
that is a wonderful and unique way of viewing Bath.
From memory I think you might be standing near the National Trust shop?
Fantastic work, I hope you go on to do some more like this. :D

Indeed an amazing shot and made more so because it is handheld and nightime too and above all else pretty damn sharp - well done Richard

Your stitch looks fantastic... It's refreshing to see stitching with some subtlety :)
I am not very confident with post-processing, so please feel free to edit and repost.

Fantastic. The lighting is sublime and really adds a great atmosphere to the image.

Thanks for the comments all :)

There were no people about, it was the coldest day of the year and everyone was inside in the warmth!!!

Incidently, I've just finished my review/initial thoughts of the 50mm AFS. It's much in the same style as my 200-400 review so if you enjoyed that, hopefully you'll enjoy this!

Enjoy :)
