Some HDR work I've been trying out... tried to go for powerful colours and lighting while not looking overly fake like most HDR photos can end up.

I really like the sky colours in the first one. The second seems very saturated to me, not really true to life. However, this may be what you are going for.

Yeah I was trying to aim for the middle-ground between the "HDR glow" and a natural looking photo...

Like I don't want it to look overly processed, but still be obvious that it's an HDR processed photo, if you get what I mean.

That looks nice. I was recently trying to put my hands on HDR in PS CS4. However, it doesn't look as good. Have you got any tips on how to make it nice? or you use other software?

Thanks

Hi, no I don't have experience with the HDR function in PS CS4, I've been trying Photomatix for the tone mapping and then tweaking the image levels and contrast afterwards.

Maybe if you post some examples of what you've done, either some of the experienced people on this board or I can make some suggestions?

You can check out Photomatix at http://www.hdrsoft.com/

Had a few more attempts at HDR photography. Would be great to hear some comments.

And yeah, I really should've been looking out for that pole in the middle of the sunset photo... lesson learned, will be more observant in future.

The second one in this set (despite the pole) is good but I really like the third one - that has come up great !!

The first one doesn't quite work for me because all the buildings and objects have a halo border around them which means that have a slight glow that doesn't blend in properly with the surrounding light. That just screams out "processed" to me. Despite that, I do like how the lighting on the buildings has come up.

It's a bit better. It's the kind of thing that happens in HDR pics. Even the last one with the blue sky has it but the blue shades blend into each other a lot better so it's not as distracting.
