Calliope Hummingbird- Florida.Just got back from 10 days in Florida, US.
Will post some of the Everglades later. Spent a lot of time chasing these little guys at Butterfly World, near Ft. Lauderdale. No tripods or monopods allowed, SB 900 was essential and it's difficult to get complete freezing of the wings with just one flash, resulting in some ghosting. You need a minimum of at least 3 for these guys with a proper feeder setup to get it right. I wish we had these guys here! C & C most welcome. Cheers Marc D300, 70-200 + SB900. 1/60s f/10 @ 200. M flash @ 1/8 (producing around 1/8000s, tried 1/16 but resulted in very dark BG) Last edited by marc on Tue May 12, 2009 2:45 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Calliope Hummingbird- Florida.Really lovely,
I think #3 is my pick probably because the background shows the bird in more detail - great timing and light Well done wish they were here also DebT DebT

And you didn't invite us to join you? I hope that you at least tried to catch up with our old friend, EnergyPolice. The third of these images is wonderful. The daintiness of the bird's wings is beautifully displayed. Well done. g.
