New Year Light Show

Hello everyone and happy new year!

Well since 7pm last night (1.1.10) we have had the most remarkable lightning show i've seen in years. So i decided to get my camera out and have a go at photographing it. I am quite impressed by this shot, i would love some cc as i plan to do something with it, not sure what but i don't want to waste the shot and leave it on the computer hard drive and not do anything with it. I plan to take a few more shots tonight as its still continuing now -12:39am 2.1.10. Any advice on how to improove would be great!

Please note the only PP done was the crop. The coloring was how it was taken, it had the most incredible blue tone, it was fantastic. Now i have never photographed a storm before so yeah, this is my first ever attempt apart from the old point and shoot camera shots!! lol

thanks

kristen

I thought i might add another i took, hope no one minds!! cc most welcome again!! i drove out of town down a dirt road to a clear area. mind you it was dark so i had no clue how to manually focus on something that comes and goes so quick!! so its a tad blurry but still i love the cloud formation, this was the real beginning of the storm that lasted over 6 hours. Incredible night!!

We had the same in Seymour.
I tried to take a few of the lightning, but we didn't get the bolts like you've captured. It was just bright flashes here.
