I visited the Merewether baths (Newcastle) before the daylight savings shaninagans came into force. One could cruise in at 06:40 and still catch the good light. Gone are those days at the moment. Incidently the low cloud cover caused two sunrises.....

I am yet to shoot in this area. Just waiting for the sun to get up a little later......

Thanks BP. I like this area because even at sunrise, there are people about. No issues on security. Also, people always come and say hi and are usually curious to have a look at the shots. Expect to see a few photogs hanging about though...This seems to be popular (and Cliched)

Thanks Cameron. Sometimes the purple becomes a bit too much. Anywhoo I have managed to put some substantial scratches on the filter so in the market for a color neutral 3 stop ND grad.

Thanks Wendell. That particular morning was as beautiful as the pictures show. I have boosted colors slightly though.

For anyone visiting Newcastle. This is a must visit place for a swim during the warmer months. On this particulr morning the water seemed to be warmer than the air!!!

I would like to add a comment about the Cokin "clone". I bought original Cokin GND filters when I first started and got rid of them (gave them to a member of the forum) because there were not neutral in colour... same reddish hue.

Suren, that last one is a cracker, it needs to be cropped, ie have the bottom 1/3rd removed. As a pano style with that bird I reckon it will be a stunner. Great stuff getting out there early in the morning.

Hmm..That is not encouraging. I might investigate this further. I don't really want to splash out on Singh rays or anything for my use. Maybe Hitech...

Thanks Ozi. It was very tempting but I resisted. I was expecting more suggestions to do this actually. I was initially hoping that the tone and mood of the photo would distract the viewer away from that island (Which I imagine would be not visible in high tide.... Hmm... Maybe another visit is in order?)

I love the processing on #2, somethign different and really makes the image, compositionally I feel i woudl liek to see it a bit wider or a bit tighter.. I find I get draw to two parts of the image, the first is the rail and sign, the second is the sky, I guess what I am trying to say is maybe try and isolate the main focus, in this case probably the sign. Anyway food for thought - still a great image and you got me jealous

I love the first image, great classic use of lines and a kickass sun to boot. The horizon needs to be straightened and there a few dust bunnies - buts all i can pick at

We should definitely visit when you are around this area...

coming up shortly, will schedule an extra day on teh trip back down methinks
