These are good shots.

#1 - I like the colours / darkness of the sky and clouds. I would have liked to have seen the sculpture lit up more / longer (similar to biggerry's). Ultimately a blend of the 2 ... Your sky with Gerry's sculpture I think that it needs more light to help it "pop" more.

#2 for me, this is the weakest of the set. The subject does not do do much for me.

#3 Wow! IMO is the best. The light painting is cool, and really finishes the sculpture. Were the taps lit blue? or were they light painted too?

Looking good suren, I like the compo on the first, however I would like to see....nah scrap that idea actually, I think this is pretty sweet and good use of all the surrounding elements at hand.

Good work on that second one too, simplicity is often the key and you have nailed it here, simple shadowy light works well.

The 3rd one is much better than mine, I think you had teh premo possie there. This is one example of that light painting really adding to teh scenery. I would probably rework the flow at the tap end just to clean up the dodgy start bit..or kick the pleb doing it...

Nice work Suren - I like your compo of #1 and your sky is more like what I was thinking of - darker and moodier. For me the bottom half looks a little cool though (it probably was with our led lighting)

I like what you've done with #2 - I don't remember us doing one that well lit - you must have extracted every last morsel of juice out of the raw - and I can't really see any signs of degradation so very nicely done.

#3 - nice colour shifting - I thought you were going to make the water blue and not everything else

Neotiger, Gerry is a certain expert at painting. It's actually really hard to get those cathodes off his hands. They are his so maybe he has a point. I do have one more idea for this tap (by the way is the winner this year). Standby for that image soon....

It shows how a few feet can make a big difference in the composition....

That can be arranged I think. Will have to have another look at the file.

No. They are completely unlit. We used a LED light and I pushed the WB to blue as I preferred a surreal theme to show this everyday object. Surreal water meets mundane tap with surreal colors. Initially my plan was to make the water blue though.

I am keen on a cooler look for this image. Makes it more alien I reckon. I was hoping to keep it uniform though. Will have another look.

Being up in Brisbane, I haven't had the opportunity to see these works of art for myself, but I have enjoyed all the photographs presented by forum members.

Here is an incredibly stuffy and elitist view of the sculptures that appears in today's The Australian newspaper.

Not I.

I suspect that he's missing a major point behind Sculpture By The Sea, in that it's intent is to be a casual pop art exhibition, by and for the masses, in a very casual setting.

Its popularity clearly indicates how successful it is (sadly too, as this popularity also perhaps corresponds with the populist so-called reality tv crap that we see) but the items on display do, as a general observation, lead people (well, me, anyway) to think about the artwork, its placement and juxtaposition within the environment, as well as the environment in general.

It's difficult to agree with the journalists viewpoint because of how the iconicity of the figurative-narrative line-space matrix visually and conceptually activates the larger carcass.
Besides, I like those cute Zebras.
