Phuket Night ScenesA recent visit to Phuket led itself to a bit of street shooting at night. There were all sorts of characters & their dogs (some of them slightly questionable) running around doind their business at nearly midnight. The city seemed to come alive around 11pm onwards!
As usual for your C&C....
Re: Phuket Night ScenesThird one is a crack up! What are they thinking in the first - they both have helmets on yet hold the baby in mothers arms...

Re: Phuket Night ScenesHi Suren - good to see you back
The first and third for me - great eye contact in the first (were you jumping up and down to get her attention as the sped past ) The third is just an interesting scene - a bit nuclear in the bottom right, thoughts on darkening the red truck on the left? Re: Phuket Night Scenes
because they will get fined for not wearing a helmet + ever seen a baby sized helmet Suren, I really like that first one (the last is quite good too but a familar sight in Phuket), I love the clarity on the child and the eye contact on teh mother, this coupled with the blur on teh man just works well. Nicely done. The last one is also great, everything from the expression, the lippie and tat work well - however a bit more room on teh top may have helped, is this as shot or cropped? gerry's photography journey
No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.
Re: Phuket Night ScenesThese are all good showing a hectic atmosphere. The 2nd has least impact as it is too dark and less of a point(s) of interest.
I like the composition of the last - it looks spontaneously staged . I don't think you need any more room on the top as I can't see it adding anything to the image. The eye contact in 1 & 3 work really well. Regards, Patrick
Two or three lights, any lens on a light-tight box are sufficient for the realisation of the most convincing image. Man Ray 1935. Our mug is smug
Re: Phuket Night ScenesThese are great...I really like the last.....
You should get out and do some more street work Suren Cameron

Re: Phuket Night ScenesThanks everyone. My exifs have been chopped somewhere but I was reasonably happy with ISO6400 for these images with mostly at f4.
Yes. Also if you look closely, #2 there is a non-thai with two (thai) girls on his bike. which I thought was hilarious.
No, but I was camping on the side of the road. The traffic would ebb and flow and people from far away could have noticed me and had a look when they finally got going past me. I also selected out photos with eye contact because I find them a bit more personal.
Yeah, the three characters are deep within their own thoughts. I also thought that the mobile phone use while travelling in that sort of medium is quite hilarious and illustrates the state of technology in everyones lives at the moment; regardless of their social class. It's at ISO6400 so I had to overexpose as there is very little shadow recovery possible with my hardware. I can still darken or de-saturate the red truck though.
This was the original shot although I may have another... Will have a look although I am with Patrick that it may not add much.
Ta. These were hit and miss as I haven't done much panning before. I think the man turned his head hence making him a bit blurry.
Agree. I posted it for whimsical value....
Thanks, It was lucky that most of them had a chance to see me before the traffic started moving so I got more eye contact than I would have got otherwise.
That gives me an idea for another 'street-shoot' this year..... Maybe we should do Darlinghurst at night....
