The Old Time BandThe Old Time Band is a trad and swing band. It is an institution at the Hero of Waterloo (Millers Point, Sidney). Led by Johnny Wray, who played in swing and trad bands in London during the 50s, and Valda Marshall (90+ years old), who plays the trumpet, cornet, saxophone and flugelhorn. The band plays on Saturday and Sunday afternoons the authentic voice of mainstream jazz … with an Australian accent!
Re: The Old Time BandVAlda is an awesome musician - I've jammed with her on a couple of occasions.
And also with the keyboard player in that image. Great use of mono in this photo; great texture from the old building. You've nailed this. g.

Re: The Old Time BandThank you Gary
Valda was quite fragile. I realised of this after they finished and she was being helped to get to her walker, out to the street and into a taxi.
