Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

G'day,
Must say there's been some awesome images posted in this thread, great going thru them, you guys have produced some terrific stuff...

Autostitch is free but only works in jpeg, great program though. It's screwed up on a couple but usually pretty good, memory hungry though... Haven't used Pano Factory but quite a few people swear by it and you can work with tiff's (or maybe PSD's?) and maybe merge more accurately, I have a demo version I'll have to give it a go...

Photomerge in Photoshop might be worth a try too...

Thanks Mark, Pano's something I've been dying to try but have been a bit unsure of how to attempt it technically. The drive to down the GOB has spured me on to take the dive and to practice more. :D
Thanks for the help and advice. You guys are a wealth of knowledge!

Hi Andy,
I have played with photomerge in PS and it seams to a simple automation tool. I will try the others to compare, once I've sorted out how to take properly exposed shots.
Are you up for a weekend trip down the GOB sometime in the coming months?
Cheers, Jase. :D

The good thing about autostitch is you put all the images into a folder and then tell autostitch where the folder is and it does the rest.....

I think the default size image is 10% and its fairly quick but put it up to 100% and it takes awhile but I have found it to be awesome.

They even have a folder of images for you to test it.

Embi and how does it determine what order to put it in?
Purely on edge selection? How accurate is it in getting the order right?
Or am I missing something here?

The advantage as Mudder has pointed out with Pano factory is that you can use TIFF which is lossless. I'm not sure if it supports PSD but I'm sure with a few more version releases it will do.

Image processing is easy. You open up and shift select images, then it will show you all of the images as thumbnails and you can change the ordering.

It will provide you with a heap of settings, such as barrel correction for the D70 using certain lenses (pretty sure it has the kit lens in there). Out of about 3 that I have tried I think this one wins hands down.

embi - glad you looked the pano idea - it looks well!

dunno the aspect ratio of the finished pano but cant help but think it needs enlarging to at least 16" on the long side, framing and hanging on the wall....... :D
