Another from Saturday night. I softened this a tad in Photoshop. It seemed necessary at the time.

Can I be the first to say "This photo, rocks!"

Sorry nice shot it could have done with a slower shutter speed either wait a bit longer till it gets a bit darker or a ND filter.

but nice colour WHY SOFTEN IT?????? :D

cheers doug

Thanks for the comments guys. :)

I don't have an ND filter, and yes I could have taken the photo later, but then I wouldn't have got the interesting cloud.

The soft focus was something I tried, and it is nowhere near as soft as it first was. I liked this better than before I softened it. I wanted a slightly dreamy look without over doing it.

Lovely shot Doug! Well done! You're photography is improving with every post you put a shot in from!

Nice shot Doug, I would like to see this shot cropped to just show the rocks and sea and omit the houses and sky if possible.
It might not work, I'm just curious. :D

I reckon Paul could be on to something with a tighter crop, I just tried it and seems to work for me.

What? And lose that pretty little cloud! Hey! Some of my best friends live in those houses! (I wish!)

Here you go, true to the subject, just some rocks:

Works for me. When I get some time I'll do a larger crop. As you can see this is just a crop of the original post.

Thanks for your suggestion, Paul, it was excellent. :)

Thanks for the cropped image Doug,
Maybe a bit less of a crop to give more DOF to the rocks, It's almost there for me. :)
By the way which lens did you use for this image?
Kit lens by any chance? (18-70DX)

Thanks for the feedback Paul. :)

Yes, kit lens. I use it for these kinds of shots all the time because a) I don't really have anything else, and b) Because on the tripod at f/8 it is sooo sharp. :)

Good work Doug,

I can see it is slowly building up in you to stock up on the caffeine and wake early

The spirit is willing, LostDingo. :D

Good crop, Craig. It makes a nice shot. My own preference is still for my original because of the colours in the sky, and the little cloud. :) There's nothing wrong with the crop though and is a lovely photo in it's own right.

Great shot Doug - i especially like the mist effect the water has - maybe too much else in the pic - i like the cropped ones for their detail.
