Ventured into the garden again... (geez i live a sheltered life) caught this critter on the prowl.. it was very jumpy so i caught it in a small tupperware container and wacked it in the fridge for 5mins to cool/calm him down a tad.. once he was calm he got wacked on a bit of bark and had a happy snap or 2 shot before he went crazy and started jumping at me and the camera constantly... dunno exactly what species it is.. but its a deffinant jumper.. about 1" in size with 2mm fangs then i went and visited the webcasting spider i took pics of yesterday and he had slightly moved his position so i got a slightly clearer shot of its eyes

I also like the story about wacking him in the fridge... I was wondering if there were some secret techniques for getting this little buggers to behave...

You could say he was one cool dude, no wonder he was pissed off at you! Good pics.

and so is the first one, I don't like the frames though.

The first one looks like a Green Jumping Spider (Mopsus mormon), but I could be wrong... Their heads are usually green as well...

I personally love dinopids (the net casing spider , photo 2) but the first 1 - all I could think of was the movie "outbreak". ...... looks like a spider/monkey hybrid very very cool

two thumbs up for number 1.

can i suggest that you bring the levels up a little on the right of the histogram and adjust shadow/highlight to bring out a bit more of the chaps detail in his head.

A couple of nice images Tim , sharp too. I like the composition of #2 a real behavioural shot.

I thought they were all green too. well the ones I've seen have been, if it's the same species.

The top spider really caught my eye as I spotted one of these freaky little jumpers on my front door last week. It had the most aggressive attitude and looked like it was ready to jump at my face as I leaned into to look closer.

As already mentioned that web casting spider is really alien.

my arachnophobe wife would bloody hate these. hehe

Thanks for the comment.. with all your comments.. they help me take better fotos i hope lol... i do take things from what you all say and try and improve it in my photos the next time im trying to photograph something..

Ive adjusted the shadow/highlights.. i hope this looks a bit better

I think I will keep to the redbacks that inhabit my backyard......your spiders are way too freaky.

As for wacking spiders, next time might I suggest a rolled up newspaper...works everytime

That baboon spider thing is fascinating. I haven't seen anything like that before. Excellent photos, I like them very much.

Glad you all like the Jumper.. he really was a frisky critter... didnt want to stay still at all.. even after a bit of cooling down...
