Hi All, well this is the 3rd pic to roll off the camera, was just a test.
Would like to know what would be the better shooting mode as in fine or Raw, i know Raw take a lot of space so whats your thoughts?
Here is 1 of the ferals, took it at the front door.

Hi BBJ

just redoing your link for:

http://www.myfoto.com.au/Photo/bigbadjohn/MT_Gambier_by_Nite/Preview/DSC_0003.JPG

Nice shot - your daughter looks as if she is saying “get out of my way”!

A little flat - needs some more contrast - but not bad for 3rd test

Cheers

Chris

way to go ...

well it didn't take long for you to start shooting.
Battery still warm ?
Good start. (shouldn't you be in bed by now ?, jees men and their toys !)
As for fine versus raw (NEF), put that in your list as I'm convinced there may be more important questions just around the corner.

All the best

Great third picture
Take your time with the manual. I'm struggling along and asking lots of questions and getting brilliant help from all of the forum members.
So ask away freely
Thanks folks!

I just did a little post processing on your image. Adjusted the curves a little. You will get to a part in your manual about loading custom curves. Well I have one loaded called "white wedding". If you are going to shoot in jpeg then personally I recommending loading such a curve as it gives a bit more punch to your shots. Like I have done below.

Some people here might disagree about using curves but I think give it a go and make your own decision whether or not you like the shots.

Before (ie your shot)

After (with a bit of curve manipulation)
- I'm not great at curve manipulation. Others here will do a better job but you get the idea.

There has been lots written about why the D70 slightly underexposes. It's all about saving the highlights. Personally I'm not obsessed with the highlights and like to take good shots straight out of the camera. PS: I think you've done a great job for your 3rd shot. My first 300 were total duds!
