I'm shocked leigh, you used a b&w with isolated colour...shocked but it definitely gives your shot a little extra impact, looks like you have a real hunter on your hands..

Good to see a cat doing something useful.

The first pic is my pic of the bunch. It shows a story played out everyday somewhere in the world.

Fantastic work Leigh, graphic, brutal, beautifully depicted story of a daily event.

Very sombre shots Leigh that, as Steve has mentioned, depict an everyday event all over the planet.

I must object tho’ - you should have warned the more sensitive of us that there was a cat in one of the pics

Leigh

As an unfan of colour + B & W pics I found the first shot very confronting. I would definitely have liked some warning  since this REALLY WORKS.

The first one is the perfect treatment of this image and shows your forte is certainly B & W (grain and all). The weakest is the one that shows the cat.

Chris,

That's my cat, actually.

The one that's sleeping on Leigh's bed.

The one that spends his days on Leigh's lap.

The one that pays me no affection whatsoever.

The one that only pays minimal attention to me when he's hungry.

Hell, anyone would think we were married. :) BTW, he's two for two this week: two mice in two nights.

As Mufasa once said to young Simba; "It's the Circle of Life"!!

Great shots Leigh. At least your cat doesn't seem in the habit of disembowelling the mice first!!

I'm not a fan of the style pf PPing them like that either, but I thought this one would work since it was using the colour for a reason... to emphasize the wound.

I think that's the problem with most of these colour _ B&W images... they're done for looks, not for a purpose, and they often fail as a result.

Cheers for the comments all.

I was bored and the cats were playing with a dead rat so I figured I'd take a picture.
