An idle holiday arvo (DU warning)

Hi all,
this afternoon when my wife and kids went to the beach, I stayed back (not being a beach person at all) and eventually got bored, since there isn't much for me to do at my parents' place...
Consequently, I picked up the camera and explored the backyard. The most interesting thing I found was a feeding frenzy in the grevillea bush. Here are a couple of samples:

#2
Whichever sweets the rainbow lorikeets couldn't reach the bees were eager to dig out. Unfortunately, they were far to agile for my tracking skills, so the most presentable I've got is a butt shot:
#3
I liked the soft light this late afternoon, and the colours and low contrast it yielded.
Finally, for a dose of festive kitsch, an image my wife particulary adored when she came back home. With it go my wishes for a happy remainder of the holiday season and a merry cross-over into 2006:

Cheers
Steffen.
