A less controversial subject

Meet our beloved little cat, Dougal, who is blind in one eye after taking on a car on the street. Taken during the winter (I think) when the sun was low in the sky.
Cheers

Hello Sheila, sorry have not said hello yet on other post but have admired your work for some time now, back in my Fuji forum days i had come across your site.
Anyhow i like all the cat pics you have and this is a great capture as well, love them.

Shiela,
I'm going to differ from the pack thus far, and ask if you have a lower contrast version of this image.
I'd love to see some detail (in the cat) apart from the rimlighting here, and I'm not (yet) convinced that this is the optimal treatment for this image.

A stark and interesting image sheila. I am not a cat lover, I like my animals with a bit more bark, but the way you have used the available light has been very effective and that's what counts.

How about this one, Gary?
This is Ted, Dougal's big brother. In fact he's a very big brother weighing in at almost 20 pounds!

Shelia,
I really like the second one, a lot more then your first cat shot, the little extra detail in Ted's shot completes the shot!

Sheila,
Yes, this is just (to me) a much better image. It tells me so much more, and cats do have a lot to tell.

Sheila, I prefer the photo of Dougal.
It has a much better cat pose and composition (the Ted shot looks a bit ordinary in comparison), and feels far more quintessential.
Cheers
Steffen.

Tend to agree with Steffen above but the contrast is a little much for me personally. If Dougal were a stray it would be a different story but as he looks domesticated in his posture and action, needs a little more tlc on the contrast side.

Sheila, do you have a signed
model release?

A little OT but, is there a template of a
model release form ? or do you have to make your own ? Do you need a solictor or something to help draw one up ?
Edit : Thanks Glen, here is the link.

Craig, I think there is a link to one somewhere on the site. Try a search. For Dougal, I would suggest contacting the RSPCA for a
model release
