Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.
Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.
Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Hi all,
It's been a while since I've posted anything so, with this motley assortment of general shots take over the past couple of months, I try to make amends!
I'd really like any comments you can give me, especially as to how you would have treated the images differently - in the taking and the pp'ing.
Image 9256a - the girl who has just thrown the discus (spelling?) and is standing like a dancer I just love, but I can't seem to get the image quite right. I love her stance and the way her hands and feet are positioned - almost like a ballet dancer - with the discus just above her head, but I know it's dark and can't decide if I like the framing of the wire around her body the way it is. It's just a quick shot I took as I saw her line up for her throw, so it's not an important shot, but I'd be interested in your comments.
Thanks everyone. Look forward to your comments - I think ? ....

Lynn I can see all the shots, they are displaying fine for me.
Really Craig? That's wierd. I can't see them at all! Oh well ... for those of you who can see them - any comments?
Thanks for the suggestion Marco. Think I'll do that!

They are showing up for me OK. Some interesting captures you have there. I feel that the candle is a bit blown in the first one for my taste though. With a little more fill in flash, it could be a real nice pic.
Just my $0.02,
Tristan

The last two shots are my favourites.
- I'm a big fan of shooting through fences etc.. so love the 'Ballerina' (reminds me of that TV Ad with the big dude getting dance lessons for his discus)
Also love the colour and the reflections in the 2nd last one.
The other three I think need work but I don't know I'd my the best of off PP advice on them, as I'm still learning myself.

Lynn,
As documented in an earlier thread in the News section, Pixspot seems to be blocking hotlinks for some IP addresses and not for others... We haven't heard anything back from the owners of Pixspot, so the general advice is to get an account on one of the other hosting sites - either something like Flickr which is free or Smugmug / Pbase which are not...
I look forward to seeing your images soon

Good effort Lynn 2nd last one and the last are my picks. The last for its perspective the 2nd last for its general lighting and exposure. The only comment would be crop/clone out the surfer surfing out of frame. IMO he's a distraction that quite doesn't add to the image. Having said that there just needs to be a little more ocean space for the 2 paddlers on boards to paddle in to. Maybe next time
cheers

Craig - not at all. Thanks very much for helping me out! I'll try to organise something better soon but thanks for your help in the meantime.

Marco, as this was taken in one of my favourite locations on earth (Noosa), I'm happy to take on board your comments. It just means I have to go back to Noosa again and again until I get it right - correct?
