At approximately 1020hrs crews were turned out to factory fire at PR Flooring, Computer Rd, Yatala. Initially one pump was in attendance and requested a make pumps 6. Further crews were turned out at this point as the fire became a make pumps 10. Crews on scene were 635a (pump), 641a (pump), 638a (pump), 631j (tap), 636a (pump), 635m (ic), 642a (pump), 850o (hazmat), 502i (bronto skylift), 517a (pump), 510a (pump), as well as many area director vehicles.

At 1150hrs the QPS declared the area an emergency situation due to the large plumes of smoke, and began evacuating the area.

At approximately 1440 the firewalls had collapsed over the fire and an excavator was needed to get to the fire for further control.

Crews are still on scene as at 1915hrs and are expected to be on scene for quite some time. An excellent job was done by all to contain the fire to one part of the building. Thankyou to Area Director Ryan and Area Director Mutzelberg for allowing me to photograph the incident.

Great report. I saw this on the news but don't remember the shots being too fantastic so its good to see the extent of it.

I quite liked shots 7 and 10. I appreciate the difficulty of getting close to the action, but it seemed like most of the pics were a little distant. It would have been good to see the expressions on the firies faces in #7.

yeh.. i was relatively distant to this one. usually i am 'on the spot' at incidents with helmet, boots, etc ... however this one was too dangerous and the police had declared an emergency for the area.

For me teh standouts in this group are the one with the hoses on the ground. It stands out because it is very different to the rest. I love it!
Also the "unknown" fireman just below the hoses is a great shot also.

I really like the black and white images, with the heavy contrast, adds a 'newspaper' feel to the images, makes them grittier I suppose!

Could you tell me what area 8 is assigned to, I know 5 is brisbane 6 is ipswich and surrounding areas.

but i can't figureout what 8 is and that there only seems to be a few units assigned to 8 like 850L and 850O.

MArk in this series you have taken artistically what is obviously a very stressful and dramatic situation, your very skillfull in keeping your composure and gettign that close to the action

Michael... thanks.. long time no chat. 850 is special ops in Brisbane. 850L is the TR, 850O is the Hazmat, 850P is BA replenishment, 850Q is another Hazmat and specialised vehicle.
