Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

I feel like a big kid. Broadway shopping centre was offering free santa photos, so I thought why not?! Best of all, the photographer was using a D70! I asked him to take one pic with my camera, with SB800 attached; he obliged. He later asked what the funny thing by the side of my flash was (the fifth cell), he only had a SB600 on his unit. :D

I must say that Santa doesn't look totally wrapped in you sitting on his knee!

I hope you carried out a "background check" on him before you sat on his knee.

They are all so unforgiving and so cruel Onyx! :D

Seriously though, your Santa photo has good depth of field and is lovely and sharp.

Thanks for sharing

hehehe, I'm sure there could be a few santa's out there that took the job for the opportunity to be close to children (be it a good or a bad thing).

I am disappointed with myself, and my failure to inform the santa photog of these forums. Perhaps I'll head back there tomorrow and see if the same guy is around and strict up a conversation with him.

I simply handed him my camera, it was set to f/16 or something as I was shooting outdoorsy shots just prior, and he selected f/8 and zoomed the kit lens to around 50mm - which is what you see here, everything rendered pretty sharp. Noting that he chose the sweet spot of the lens, both in terms of zoom and aperture selected, I get the feeling this guy has a fair idea of what he's doing... and should be beyond taking santa photos for kids.

As for my physical appearance - yeah, I should have put more thought into preparation. Shave, take off the sunnies, etc. ;)

I just noticed that santa is a FAKE!!!!!

Yes he is indeed. Look at the colour of his eyebrows compared to his beard and head hair......see what i mean.....

I think you've been duped.....

Dammit Steve, you're right.

Look at those white gloves.

That's actually Mickey Mouse dressed up and impersonating Santa.

Call the police! Call the fire brigade! Call the RSPCS!

Let's call the whole thing off.

With white gloves like that and a boy sitting on his lap, it might be Michael Jackson impersonating Santa...

No. His skin's too dark for it to be Michael Jackass.
