Here are some of my images from Jan/Feb. Comments good or bad are welcome and appreciated, esp. on colour, composition and any improvement one could make.

All shots except for the Seagull were taken with the D70 kit lens 18-70.

#1 Stallion - Went for a drive through Wisemans Ferry upto St. Albans, a village time forgot. I cant believe its that close to a city of 5 million. (large)


#2 One morning @ Narrabeen Pools(large)


#3 Narrabeen rocks(large)


#4 Seagull (shot with my xmas present 70-200 vr thank you santa ) (large)


#5 Waterfall in the Blue Mountains (large)

#1 Stallion - I really like the horse, but Im not sure the high contrast BG works in this shot. Others may disagree. I certainly dont dislike the image but i would like to see how it worked with a more subdue BG?

#2 One morning @ Narrabeen Pools - WOW, you nailed this shot. Colours are fantastic. Well done. Well done on getting up so early too!

#3 Narrabeen rocks - Lacking a little in the composition (no strong focal point and not enough of the area to be a great landscape shot, however the technical aspects are good in this shot. Nice effect.

#4 Seagull - Good light and sharp image. A little bit hot on the white gull. The subject is a tad dull, but it is good image.

#5 Waterfall in the Blue Mountains - This image was really nice when i viewed it at larger size. The yellowy background in the top left detracted a little bit but i think you have a really nice image here.

I used spot metering of the horse so the background was nearly white (was also shot around 11am...) so I upped the contrast and played with levels and made it all white

Agree, I just wanted to see how people got that "dreamy look" of the water washing over the rocks. More play required.

Yep agreed. I just wanted to take my 70-200 out and check it out...

Mike #2 and #4 are excellent . Love the colour of the morning sky in it ,tranquil .

Thanks lost dingo - it was quite a unique scenario where you have the sunrise from one end and a huge spotlight illuminating the pool from behind - hence the glow. Thanks for commenting.

They are all good images Mike, you have done a great job. The Narrabeen one is a standout for me. Love the deep colours. I must get up there to have a look at it, I've never been.

Narabeen shot is in a different league to the others. By themselves all the others are great shots but the excellence of No.2 takes the edge off the others.
