What do you think? It's one of my favorite photos from my NYC trip. It was taken with a...with a... well what do you think? No PP.

I like it, can't really add much else. Also didn't they recently ban cameras from the subway in a bunch of US cities?

The subject is very easy on the eyes, in other words very attractive, you are a lucky man.

With regards to the shot, I always like in focus fore ground and out of focus back ground: well done.

I tip my hat off to you Mr Party Animal. I didn't dare take out the cam in subways during my time in NYC.

That's a fantastic image - your wife held still enough to be crisp, the trains moved fast enough to be blur, and your handholding technique seems to be up to scratch too.

I reckon, those NYC subway trains are HOT, if only it wasn't blurred!

Lovely shot dooda, I think the moving hair makes the shot for me (unless it naturally sticks out at the end like that, but somehow I doubt it ). It's almost "hair-care product advert" stuff, well done!

Is that the shadow of a mugger - er, I mean another commuter - on the left of the image?

Fantastic shot. I love how your wife has remained so sharp with the blurred train in the background. The only thing I would change is maybe composing the photo with your wife positioned on the left third of the frame. Nice one.

This was taken with a 300d. Looking back at my photos with that cam, the auto WB worked really well, down in the subway where the flourescent lighting was pretty harsh, all of the pics came out pretty well, and the outdoor ones looked pretty good as well. I hate the ergonomics of it though.

Captured, I don't understand what composing this simple image with the rule of thirds would add except make people wonder why the only subject in the photo is not centered? I use the rule of thirds as it applies to various objects all interacting within the same scene, but with a single subject and background, I see positioning the subject to the left as weakening the impact of the photo. For example, you don't see many studio portraits done with the person sitting slightly to the left of the image, right?

Fozzie, yep, I do consider myself extremely lucky. Not only is she a hottie, but she's a pilot for Continental Express, so we get to go on awesome trips. I've been thinking about coming down there for a little photo excursion! However the entire photo is in focus, the train is motion blur. I lucked out that she's framed in the dark spot between cars.

what shutter speed was that taken at?
I guess flash was not used since that would freeze the background.
Did u take any other shots of that situation?

Nice shot Dooda. The blur of the subway really works. I assume it was taken a little while back or your wife has a hot thermostat. My brother lives in NY, NY and when I spoke to him the top temp for the day was 0 degrees celsius with the lowest minus five. Last week a building his partner designed got flooded because a plumbing pipe blew due to the minus 18 degress temperatue. Too bloody cold for an aussie

This picture was taken back in May, before my D70 came to my hands. I was scrolling through the years photos, and I found I was particularly fond of this one, so 8 months later I post it.

dciscool, I took a couple more the next day. She was wearing a black top and holding a orange rose that I bought her. Maybe I'll post that one too, it's pretty neat as well, but the subway car didn't look as spacey. I can't remember the shutter speed. Should be on the exif data (which I still don't know exactly how to check as of yet.)
