A great family shot...

Image

This was taken in complete darkness with the 24 - 120 VR lens and SB-800 flash, ISO at 400. Very impressed that it focused so fast considering I couldn't even see what I was focusing on :)

Gold. Did you have the Auto Focus assist lamp firing? (ie the camera detected low light and fired that up) Perhaps thats how it focused. A very nice piece of glass anyway, and a great photo.

Bounce flash?

Lovely pic woody - did you bounce the flash?
The absence of any harsh shadows seems to indicate that you did.
Certainly a great shot under the circumstances.

Umm not sure :)

When I half pressed the shutter a red grid was displayed over the image so i pressuem this is how it focused. What I was impressed with though was it focused as quickly as if I had the lights on!

Sure did. I always bounce the flash when indoors.

Whilst the lens did well I actually had the VR function turned off on this one :)

Cheers

I am looking after him on Friday after I visit you to collect his new D70 :)

Can't spoil him to much by giving him VR as well...
