Just two photos I took today. It was my first proper 'outing' with the D70, and I'm still getting to know it.

Lock
Also available on DA & PhotoSig, if my website is down.

Camera: Nikon D70 + 18-70
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/125 sec
Aperture: f4

Flash
Also available on DA & PhotoSig, if my website is down.

Camera: Nikon D70 + 18-70
ISO: 400
Shutter: 1/125 sec
Aperture: f3.5

Note: I know these are fairly poor, but I thought I'd share anyway. :D

G'day Siborg and welcome to the forum!

Siborg, an interesting name...

The first one needs "something" as the subject seems to be the sky and there's not much up there, if it was a cloudy or stormy day, or something like that it would have much more impact... Perhaps a crop might change the "scene"?

The second one is great! I seem to find my eyes looking for the bottom of the fallen branch in the foreground where the two branches would meet, but it's a very nice shot... Really like that... :-)

These aren't "poor" shots, they've very nice! Take my comments with a grain of salt as I aint no "photographer" that's for sure, I enjoyed your shots...

Cheers,
Mudder

Welcome Siborg & thanks for posting.

The first one didn't really do it for me but I was curious at what seemed to be some traffic lights in a park? Are my eyes playing tricks on me here or is that the case.

Second image very nice. I like the contrast of the warmth in the grass and the cool blue sky. Was this image taken at dusk or dawn?

Looking forward to more posts in the future - well done for having a go.

Welcome Siborg - went to your site very nice plus the explanation of your name!

The first shot’s traffic lights (for Jordanp) are possibly for the boats but I am sure Siborg will explain.

I do like the 2nd shot better for reminding me of home (ex)

Chris

They are traffic lights, but it isn't a park. They are lights for boat using the lock (raises/lowers the boat to match the water-level on the other side of the lock, kind of like an elevator for boats).

It was also taken at dusk.

I like the first image, i can see what you are trying to convey and i reckon it works.

The second one reminds me of a lake i used to feed ducks at when i was a youngster in Leeds. The colours and setting are so similar that i have a kind of, afinity with the image.

Thanks for sharing ;)

Hi Siborg

Welcome to the forum. I like both your images; the second image has a real "warmth" to it - quite nice.

Cheers
Kristine

Poor Aussies, never seen a lock before :)

I remember the good old days when I went for a canal boat holiday on the river avon. Had a great time navigating through all the locks to Stratford.
