As the sole representative from Wollongong on this forum I feel it is my duty to educate our members on the beauty of this area! Often neglected as an ugly industial eye-sore, Wollongong has lots to offer. So I present for your viewing pleasure the first in a series of occassional snapshots, highlighting some of the 'Gong's picturesque attractions!

Nan Tien Temple is the largest Buddhist Temple in the southern hemisphere, and is quite simply SUPERB. The grounds and gardens are amazing, the lilly pond has to be seen to be believed. Well worth the trip from Sydney, and they also serve a scrumptious vege lunch for $8.00!

Hi WW, Ok well loverly pics looks like a nice place to visit. I think they are all good nice colours. Thought that last pic near resembled me but nope it's not a budha thats one of my nick names.

Nice images, really shows what the temple and grounds are like.

I think the last one could be better shot from either a different angle or shallower DOF so the background is out of focus. I like the subject just not the background.

The third shot with the foreground and then the temple in the background is excellent, good vision.

Nice images Werewolf. The lily pond with those weeping trees make for a surreal environment. BTW, you have several dust spots on your sensor you might wanna look into addressing.

Damn I thought I'd cloned those dust bunnies out! Apologies for the blown highlights in the clouds of pic 1.

Ajax.....................all with the kit lens and with minimal PP. I wasn't happy with the 18-70 at first but now it's showing it's true colours (pardon the pun!).

WOODY................yep agree re the statue, I completely forgot to fiddle with the aperture to blur the background. Tsk tsk

Thanks folks, and like I said previously the temple is ideal for a photographic excursion (and you may gain some spiritual enlightenment!).

Werewolf - you have shown pics of one of my favourite places. I have been a few times just for the peace of the place plus the meditation.

I think they have a fair degree of "snap" too- are you using custom curve?

Great to see some shots from someone's local area for those of us that have never been there... Loved the third(?) one with the statue in the foreground and the temple in the background (Gold%20Buddha%20JPEG.jpg) great angle and use of complimentary foreground and background...

Onyx - believe it or not I have similar (unposted) shots almost identical to yours! The area around the lily pond is truely magical.

Cricket Fan - no custom curve. Used sparingly the Colour Booster feature in Capture can be a wonderful thing! I'm planning a return visit in the late afternoon as the western sun hits those orange roofs, it's murder achieving good exposure in the glare of midday.

Mudder - it's tough being so hirstute (keep those silver bullets away from me!).
