I posted the themes, however my favourites are really single images that really only fit the theme of a great weekend camping...

1. Booderee botanical gardens (ID anyone?)


2. Using a piece of red lighting gel then B&W conversion...

#1 and #4 are good (I think #1 is a waratah), but #2 needs a better, harsher B & W for me and #3 suffers from not being a compelling enough subject.

I really like the 2sd shot, I found the grainy B&W works very well to capture this "landscape's mood".

#2 works for me. It's such a dreamy seascape and draws me in. Lovely image. That's art. I disagree with Peter on the P-processing and think you got the balance right. I know Peter like more drama....but he just has to pander to his gentler side on this one.

the B&W is a sunrise shot and I've titled it 'Dark to Light' (in my usual pragmatic titling fashion) but that may have helped to reflect what I was trying to achieve here. I have plenty of colour versions of this a lot of contrast and they did not have the same feel...

The other issue of course is there is so little range in the pixels that any more contrast just blows the highlights right out.

Hmm realised I wasn't doing any favours posting that.

I actually prefer the first colour version rather than the high sat one. My problem with the B & W was the detail was hard to make out, but as Matt suggests I like more drama

Hi Peter was just getting carried away with the pictures I think I started on a tangent once I opened up the colour version I then wanted to see what I could do with it... sigh...

2nd colour one for me, though a touch backed off towards the 1st colour one would hit just the right spot I think.

interesting thought here though - I posted the first colour one in my picture-a-day gallery it had only a couple of hits before I deleted it. The second one thumbnails a lot better and has had heaps more hits and even attracted comments.

So it's not about how good yr photos look large, its how good they look small

Nick - I agree - I was just thinking it would be great to have a 'rollback everything I did 'cos I forgot, by about 20%' button in photoshop

#1 for me all the way.

Justin - photographs #1, #3 and #4 are excellent shots - the camping obviously went well

All nice shots. Like the 1st & the 2nd. Out of the two colour shots, I prefer the less saturated one.
