Pretty girl and great poses...I'm not so sure on the PP in the first shot though...the background blur finishes awkardly on her neck...mind you having said that the first is also my favourite of the three....go figure

Thanks for the comments. I must admit the DOF is rather shallow. The lens was kind of new to me and I thought 1.8 would be the way go, I dial it back a little now after those experiences, but i'm still getting used to se4tting the apeture to get the DOF just right.

I think DOF is just right on the first one.

The exposures on these are spot on... This girls has a very interesting look and is very comfortable in front of the camera.

Thanks, it is my GF so does make it quite a bit easier I guess. Not sure I would do so well with a relative stranger.

I'd actuallylike to see a tad more DoF in the first one of these.
You have her right eye in focus, but the left one is not. I think the image would benefit from both eyes being in sharp focus.

Yes, I do agree with you myself. Ultimately that is the way I would want it, but I did not realise the depth would be quite that shallow at the time.

I've not yet had an opportunity to play with a 400D, so I can't say whether chimping would have helped you address this issue; it wouldn't have on the D70, but it would have on the D200.
But with these lenses wide open - or close to - the DoF is quite shallow, and you need to just bear this in mind as you're shooting. All it takes is a nudge here or there and the problem can be addressed.

Yes, it does help. It's quite a nice big and bright screen on the 400D. Once I get on a bit of a roll though I don't normally have a look till I get them home on my PC.
