I'd welcome any criticisms of these shots. These are straight from the camera: simply reinterpolated down to 800x532px. White balance set with Expodisc: Normally I shoot NEF, but decided to wing it with JPEG and I'm very happy with the white balance here, not to mention the bokeh!

timbo - excellent shots - the lens is certainly very good.

Do you often go to the Vaucluse cemetery?

Thanks! My first image posts here, but I've been inspired by the high quality of shots from many other members. I've also got some underwater shots up (pre-D70, so strictly not relevant I guess) at http://homepage.mac.com/dang_thang/PhotoAlbum2.html

Timmbo,
Your photos from the 70-200VR + TC-17 will make people lack of sleep due to their lust commitments.

Thanks birdy. I owe it all to you. I was suffering from lack of sleep earlier because of the price: now I'm sleeping like a baby on Valium :D

No Chris, I haven't been there yet. One good thing about cemeteries... even the winged subjects are considerate enough to stand still for the lens

Great shots.
Amazing optical quality.
I'm very soon going to be in the same boat as you so to speak.
70-200MM VR + TC-17EII
I got my D70 back from hospital today and started playing with the VR
and it is already blowing my socks off.
I'm really keen to see the combination of TC-17EII and VR.

Hi Timbo

If I recall at the mini meet you mentioned your intention was to use the glass for surfing shots. Taken any yet?

Hi Ray,

No, I haven't got to test it so far for the surf shots. I was planning to get some shots today but have been called in to work... fancy that on a day like this! I'll post some as soon as I get the opportunity: probably tomorrow morning.

No, no, no, no, no ....

Tomorrow morning is the picnic. Unless you're intending heading down to the beach tomorrow morning. As in something close to when the sun - dare I say it - rises?
