Brohm LakeI guess I'm in a posting sort of mood so I thought I'd put a couple here for so you all can sharpen your critique saws. I think that this shot has loads of potential, but I can't seem to figure out how or what to change to make it perfect. I think that the bright part in the bottom right needs to be darkened, but couldn't get it right within all of the fine details of the tree branch reflection. Also, very stark light and getting the reeds exposed properly was literally impossible. Let me have it boys.
Taken with Kit lens, saturation to bring out the browny red, some curves and USM. Still tooling with USM to figure out my fav settings.
I tried cropping the right half out with that reflection. Is that what you were saying? I didn't like the effect really. The log wasn't very sharp. I would rather not crop out the left half as the log is sort of the reason why I took the shot in the first place.
The log doesn't seem strong enough for me to hold my attention, it needed to be much bigger in the photo. The reflection on the other hand has a lot more interest for me, as it is I feel that you needed to see what is above the long grass.

I agree with phillip.... get rid of the left half all together.... try boosting the saturation a little bit....
nice shot though... http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
yeh, I see your point. Reminds me of the drawing of the old lady and the young woman in one pictured shape. You can't see one while looking at the other and you're looking at the same thing!
