A little bit of critique:

The bolt: without a title it would be hard to know what this pic is about! If you have a macro lens get in closer or change the angle to eliminate the out of focus piece of wood.

The fire engine: I like this shot but could do with a dodging on the left hand side.

The rose: lovely colour - was this shot with flash?

The jet: Nice positioning needs to be a little sharper - have you used any USM on this shot?

Burning rubber - again a very nice shot but needs to be sharper.

As you said not bad for a Newbie and in a very short time you will be putting up excellent shots

Thanks guys

None of the pics have any work done, except resizing in photoshop for download.

"The Bolt" - 70-300 tamron, auto

Fire engine - 180-70 kit lens, flash

The rose was shot on auto, in my kitchen, no flash 18-70 kit lens (still trying to figure the camera out)

The Jet, final at sydney, 70-300 tamron

Burning rubber, the reason the shot appears blurry is due to the jet exhaust from the two engines (I think)

Wow...

ahh those 70-300 lenses are the great unknown arent they...

In the right conditions they produce punchy images and in some places flat...
