Who said soccer was for softies?
Images from Wollongong Wolves vs Manly at WIN Stadium yesterday.
All with the 80-200 ED 2.8, heavily cropped.

Very good, like the flying through the air of the second one.
What sort of shutter speed? The third one looks not quite as sharp as the first two.
Did you use a tripod or Monopod?
You should see about selling those to the club or something.

Rusty - I always use a monopod at the games.
Shutter speed varied between 1000, 1250 and 1600. A 6pm kick-off coupled with a moody and overcast sky meant lousy light conditions.
I switched from Spot to Matrix Metering, and I also reverted back to Closest Subject Focus from Single Area Focus.
Owing to the financial problems at the club I give my services freely in return for free admission.

They look great mate.. In fact they look professional.
Looking at the images though i begin to see why the club is not in a financial position to pay you. There's no crowd!!!!
Well done.

Thanks Killa............I'm flattered! I'm eventually aiming for a gig in the new A-League which is launched this year. Would love to make some cash out of this hobby! Yeah right!
And the reason for no crowd? Those parts of the ground are closed to spectators since our.....erm....demotion to State League last season.

I suppose i should say that i once supported Perth Glory (Probably still will in the new A-League too, although the Brissy team is also an option) so i was very disappointed by the Wolves V Glory final a few years back where Wollongong fought back from 3-0 down at HALF TIME to win the bloody game 4-3. I suspect the Glory players might have had a pre-emptive bottle or two of celebratory champers during the break.
Oh well. Such is life.
